Most centers in Chittagong are ‘at risk’

The police have compiled the list on the basis of past clashes, ballot box snatching, influence of candidates at the Center and intelligence reports. However, the police have termed these centers as ‘important’ centers as they are not risky centers.

According to Election Commission sources, the Election Commission (EC) has set up a three-tier security table for peaceful voting. According to the plan, a separate number of law enforcement agencies will be deployed for the security of polling stations in general areas, metropolitan areas and coastal, inaccessible and hilly areas considering the geographical location.

Members of the army and navy will be the striking force outside the polling station. Members of RAB, BGB, Coast Guard and Armed Police Battalion will patrol as mobile and striking force.

According to city police sources, polling stations in Kotwali, Bakalia, Halishahar, Pahartali, Chawkbazar, Akbar Shah Thana and Banshkhali, Satkania, Lohagara, Fatikchhari, Sitakunda and Sandwip areas of the district have been identified as high risk. There are more risky polling stations in Chittagong-9 (Kotwali) and Chittagong-10 (Double Mooring) constituencies of the city.

 

Meanwhile, after the start of the election campaign last Wednesday in Chittagong-18 (Banshkhali) constituency Saral Union during the mass rally, the symbol of the top of the rice candidate Jafrul Islam Chowdhury and Rangunia LDP candidate Nurul Alam has been accused of attack. Jafrul Islam Chowdhury also claimed that the attackers also fired blank shots at the mass media.

Earlier on Tuesday, Jatiya Party nominee Mahmudul Islam Chowdhury was accused of attacking the workers of Langal Pratik in Saral Union of Chittagong-16 (Banshkhali) constituency.

At a press conference, Mahmudul Islam Chowdhury claimed that some illegal armed men fired blank shots at the mass media that day and vandalized the microphone of the procession. They vandalized CNG taxis and pickups.

 

The attack took place on Sunday (December 18) afternoon at the Victory Day rally of BNP candidate for Chittagong-10 (Double Mooring) constituency and Abdullah Al Noman in Nayabazar area of ​​Halishahar police station in Chittagong city.

Meanwhile, the incidents of violence are spreading panic among the voters. Hafsa Begum, a woman voter from Bakalia area of ​​the city, told Jago News, “I am worried whether the vote will be fair. I will go to vote if I get security. Otherwise I will not leave the house. ‘

 

However, the CMP Commissioner. Mahabubur Rahman told Jago News, “Port city is a very important area in Chittagong divisional area. The police administration is planning to take security measures considering most of the 599 polling stations in the city as ‘important’. ”

 

He added, “Additional security will be beefed up in areas where voters are feared to be intimidated.” No one will get a chance to cause unpleasant incidents. ‘

Besides, Chittagong-2 (Fatikchhari), Chittagong-3 (Sandwip), Chittagong-4 (Sitakund), Chittagong-5 (Hathazari), Chittagong-6 (Rangunia), Chittagong-12 (Patia), Chittagong-14 (Chandnaish-) of the district. Satkania), Chittagong-15 (Satkania-Lohagara) and Chittagong-17 (Banshkhali) constituencies have been identified as risky.

Chittagong District Superintendent of Police Noor Alam Mina told Jago News, “Polling stations in Banshkhali, Satkania, Lohagara, Fatikchhari, Sitakunda and Sandwip areas of the district have been identified as high risk based on past clashes, ballot box snatching, influence of candidates in the centers and intelligence reports.” The police have taken a detailed program in this regard. According to the plan, security measures will be taken at the polling stations.

 

However, polling stations in Chittagong-1 (Mirsarai), Chittagong-6 (Raozan), Chittagong-6 (Boalkhali), Chittagong-11 (Port-Patenga) and Chittagong-13 (Anwara-Karnafuli) constituencies have been identified as less risky. However, several of these centers have been identified as risky.

Meanwhile, 12 BGB temporary camps have been set up in 10 constituencies of the district and three constituencies of the district to control law and order in Chittagong ahead of the 11th general elections. BGB activities are being conducted from the regional headquarters in Halishahar in three constituencies of the city (Kotwali, Double Mooring, Port).

BGB Regional Commander Brigadier General Adil Chowdhury told Jago News that 60 platoon BGB would be deployed in 16 constituencies of Chittagong to carry out election duties. To this end, camps are being set up in Mirsarai, Fatikchhari, Sandwip, Sitakunda, Hathazari, Raozan, Rangunia, Boalkhali, Patia, Anwara, Satkania and Banshkhali.
